

Windana Youth Community House (WYCH)
The youth withdrawal service covers the Southern Metropolitan region of Melbourne.
The program provides youth withdrawal, respite and intensive support services, accommodating 6 young people between the ages of 12 – 21 years. The program operates on a 24-hour basis from the residence. Case Management co-ordination is provided from the Visy Cares Centre in Dandenong and the withdrawal program operates from a residential setting in Dandenong.
WYCH services are based on an ethos of flexibility, firmness, fairness and fun, to support the young person and respond to their varying developmental needs. Our services conform with the Windana philosophy, which ensures a holistic approach is maintained throughout all operations of the Society.
Services are delivered within a psycho-social framework by an experienced and qualified staff from a range of disciplines. A multifaceted approach is designed to respond to each young person individually.
Adult Residential Drug Withdrawal Program
The Drug Withdrawal Program provides a holistic approach to drug withdrawal which focuses on personal empowerment and incorporates medical and complementary therapies, harm minimisation, life-skills education, relapse prevention, diet/nutrition and exercise.
The Drug Withdrawal Program consists of a community-based residential Drug Withdrawal House which principally provides services to the Southern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.
Four extra beds are provided at the Drug Withdrawal House as an extended 3 - 4 week program for people who, following withdrawal, require further treatment in a supervised residential facility.
The Windana Therapeutic Community (TC) is a residential, drug free rehabilitation program providing an environment for residents to develop changes to previous patterns of risk taking behaviour.
The TC has forty beds distributed amongst five self-contained houses on a rural property situated 75kms east of Melbourne. There are three mixed-gender houses and two gender specific houses, one for males and one for females.
A holistic program addresses self-help, self-responsibility and independent re-integration into the wider community. Health and physical fitness, education, vocational and re-integration support, as well as psychological, emotional, spiritual and environmental needs are all addressed.
Residents are offered a staged treatment program, which includes individual and group therapy, physical work on the property, domestic routines, relaxation, art and craft, health and fitness, outdoor treks and entertainment opportunities.
The average duration is... However, because each person's needs are responded to individually, there is not set time of stay.
The Windana Supported Accommodation Program offers a range of supported accommodation and integration houses located across the southern region. The aim of the program is to meet the varying specific needs of women, families, young adults and single people recovering from substance dependency.
The program strives to be accessible to a wide group of people, including those who are homeless, leaving prison, on methadone or other substitute therapies, following their participation in other Windana programs or withdrawal programs in other facilities.
The program provides both practical and emotional support to individuals and families residing in the Supported Accommodation Program for 1-12 months within the Southern Metropolitan Region. Participants are assisted to access secure, safe, affordable accommodation and improve the quality of their lives.
Each resident is assisted by a support worker to develop an individual treatment plan and is supported in implementing their plans and achieving their unique goals.
The program encompasses harm minimisation and/ or abstinence strategies, includes a variety of treatment approaches and utilises a wide range of local human services and community resources.
The Community Services program at Windana currently includes intake and assessment; community integration; individual and group counselling and support; parenting services; peer support; education; and a community centre which provides a range of complementary therapies.
Participants in the program are encouraged to identify options, make choices, establish goals and address issues, including relationships with partners, family and friends, legal matters, employment, education and training, finances and income security, health, recreation and relapse prevention to achieve on-going meaningful personal growth and improved quality of life.
The Windana Community Centre provides low-cost holistic healthcare to the general public, providing priority access to high health risk and economically disadvantaged individuals and families.
The Windana Community Centre aims to provide preventative healthcare services and continuity of care to clients who participate in other Windana programs. Clients are seen by appointment six days per week.

Through its own dispensary the Windana Community Centre provides naturopathic and homeopathic withdrawal regimes to a number of programs and individuals undergoing home-based withdrawal throughout the state. Specialist advice is available for people with blood borne virus ailments. Clinics are staffed by qualified practitioners and there is a fee for service.
