As part of a continuous process of improving and developing excellent services, Windana is currently engaged in two significant action research initiatives:
Clean Street
In partnership with Sacred Heart Mission St Kilda, Windana is working to develop ways in which to address drug and alcohol issues for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The vast majority of people in these circumstances experience issues with alcohol and other drugs, but they also report difficulty in accessing mainstream drug and alcohol services. By working together, this joint project seeks to find solutions to the problems facing people who are homeless.

SAFE at Home (Strategies to Aid Family Effectiveness)
Windana has a proud history of supporting families through drug and alcohol related problems. We believe that working with families can ensure better outcomes for all. Due to awareness that people with children require additional and specialist support through the recovery process, Windana has developed this project to identify ways in which families can be responded to more effectively.
Of particular concern is the issue of people disconnecting from a program and placing themselves (and those close to them or in their care) at greater risk. Many factors can cause this disconnection - homelessness, relationship breakdown, shame, mental illness and relapse.
Inherent in the rationale for this project was the conviction that the earlier people can be reconnected with a program, the better the outcomes for all. The project will seek to develop interventions and processes that make everyone involved in the recovery process safer and better connected.
