Counsellor / Case Manager / Intake and Assessment

The Community Services Program provides counselling and intake and assessment services within Windana. Community Services aims to provide a range of options and support appropriate to the needs of clients who have alcohol and drug use problems. Services provided may include assessment, treatment and consultancy, referral and ongoing case management.

This Intake and Assessment and Counselling position works as part of the Community Services Program with responsibility for developing flexible, responsive and coordinated pathways for clients entering Windana.

The successful applicant will have experience in working with clients with complex issues including drug and alcohol related issues, excellent data entry skills and competent in multiple counseling modalities.

This position is .9 EFT for 10 months (maternity leave cover) with the possibility of renewal. It is paid under the Social and Community Services Award – Classification 2 ($23.64 to $25.01 per hour) with level dependant on experience / qualifications, plus 9% super, plus salary packaging. The successful candidate will have the following key competencies:
- Experience in the AOD field.
- Relevant academic qualifications in health or social sciences, or be working towards appropriate qualifications. (The minimum academic qualification for this position is the Certificate IV in Community Services (Alcohol & Other Drugs).
- Qualification in counselling
- Excellent case management skills with a high capacity to engage with the clients
- Excellent client interpersonal skills and communication
- Experience in working with people with mental health issues
- Ability to facilitate educational groups with clients
- The capacity to work as a committed team member.
- The skill and initiative to contribute to the development of an expanding program.
- A proven capacity to work with a variety of community agencies and develop effective working relationships.
- Competent in multiple counseling modalities

 Naturopath and Co-ordinator of Complementary Therapies

This exciting dual role combining residential naturopathy services and co-ordination of Windana’s complementary therapies, offers a qualified and experienced Naturopath the opportunity expand their potential and scope.

3 days each week will be dedicated to providing naturopathic consultations across our St Kilda and Nar Nar Goon sites and a further 1 day will be coordinating the Windana Community Centre (WCC).

The WCC has offered complementary health care since the mid 1980s. The focus of the WCC is to provide affordable, multi modality, holistic approach, especially to high risk groups and the socio-economically disadvantaged, emphasizing services in a strong community based with a distinct focus on empowerment.

The successful candidate will have the following key competencies:
• A graduate diploma or degree in Naturopathy
• Experience in working with people with alcohol and other drug issues
• Knowledge / experience of issues relating to the treatment of mental health concerns
• Proven administrative and organisational skills
• Empathic to values of Windana
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement.
• Commitment to OH&S.
• Clinical experience – preferably in the AOD and/or Welfare Organisations

The Windana AOD Support Service is an adult focused service working with women and men, families and single people in overcoming their substance dependency and managing mental health concerns.

The program provides both practical and emotional support to individuals and families for up to 12 months within the Southern Metropolitan Region. Clients are assisted to improve the quality of their lives and access secure, safe, affordable accommodation. Each client is assisted by a support worker to develop an individual treatment plan, and is supported in implementing their plans and achieving their unique goals.

Suiting the experienced supported accommodation or Drug and Alcohol worker, the “AOD Support Worker” will provide support and assistance to enhance clients’ quality of life through skill acquisition, counselling, personal care activities and relapse prevention.

The successful candidate will have the following key competencies:

* Proven experience in the Supported Accommodation and/or AOD field.
* Relevant academic qualifications in health or social sciences, or be working towards appropriate qualifications. (The minimum academic qualification for this position is the Certificate IV in Community Services (Alcohol & Other Drugs).

This exciting brand new position comes as a part of internal re-structuring and professionalisation of services throughout Windana’s residential programs and this position is specifically for the Therapeutic Community in Nar Nar Goon.

The Therapeutic Community provides a holistic approach to drug and alcohol treatment, with an organic farm, emphasis on reintegration work and group based therapy. This dynamic, multi-disciplinary team specialises in the holistic treatment of each client – including their mental health,

Reporting directly to the Manager, this position has a counselling and case-management focus and is suited to AOD workers who are experienced in providing support and the facilitation groups for clients seeking treatment for their AOD use. Mandatory for this position is a relevant academic qualification (minimum diploma or higher) in counselling, social work or the health sciences, or working towards completion.

In addition, candidates will have the following key competencies:
